My first approach to scribbling didn’t have the desired feel, the lines were too reparative for a scribble type of style. When I first watched this video, I admittedly was working on homework and trying to multitask. So, before continuing my project in class I watched it and tried to really absorb the content. One key factor to a scribbling technique is the intent of where your lines are. Scribble makes it seem like these lines are at random when that is in fact not true. It is crucial to keep this in mind, especially when transitioning from the darkest parts to the lighter. Something to be mindful of as well is to avoid clusters, which are unintentional dark patches formed by all the conjunction lines. If you aren’t careful, these could really throw off the unity of the artwork. I am finding I am having a bit of a hard time avoiding clusters, so I will have to be extra careful.
Ideas and Intentions - “Bloom”
I want to create these flower/people hybrids that are emerging from the scribbles. I personally find Scribbles can evoke a lot of uneasy feelings and depict certain troubling emotions. I initially wanted to lean into that, as I have been experiencing a bit of a challenging part of my life recently. However, it is so important to remember that those are temporary, and I have noticed that good change often happens due to poor circumstances, and preservation through challenges. Additionally, important lessons that benefit you further along your path are often learned through times like this. So, I wanted to show this thought through my piece, therefore these human/flowers are springing and blooming from the scribble abyss. I have the human parts as ballerinas, as I wanted it to have a certain aspect of grace.
